Construction Industry Metal Fabrication Services

The Australian construction industry relies heavily on metal fabrication services for its success. With steel playing a key part on every building site across the country, quality metal fabrication has never been more critical.

From multi-billion dollar construction projects to local development, no project could be completed without metal components like structural beams, steel ladders, trusses, roofing and more. Therefore, having a reliable metal fabrication contractor who can guarantee timely results is so important.

With project timelines at stake, there are countless benefits to on-shore metal fabrication services. Working with an Australian metal fabrication company means you’ll avoid the long lead times and quality compromises that come with offshore sourcing.

This is where the experts at Kanyana Engineering come in. Based in the Peel Region, Western Australia, we provide a range of quality metal fabrication services and solutions for the construction industry.

Kanyana Engineering specialises in:

  • End-to-end high-precision metal fabrication solutions
  • Custom metal fabrication – prototypes to full production runs
  • Secondary processors and assembly projects
  • CAD to CAM – simulate assembly to cut out delays and reworks
  • Coded and certified welders for specific industries and projects

Kanyana Engineering collaborates seamlessly with companies at all levels of the building industry, including both public and private sector projects. With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the construction sector, you can trust our team to understand the unique requirements of building and construction contractors.

At Kanyana Engineering, our team is dedicated to helping Australian construction companies work to their best ability amidst the growing needs of the industry. How is Steel Used in the Australian Construction Industry?

Steel is a favoured metal in the construction industry as it is strong, reliable, flexible, cost-effective, and sustainable. These qualities make it a top choice for many applications in the building sector, from everyday tools of the trade through to framing and building materials.

The construction industry demands durable, long-lasting materials to succeed – and steel ticks all the boxes. With a steel structural fabrication industry processing 1.6 million tonnes per annum, Australia is a powerhouse steel consumer, fuelling our nation’s economic growth through a range of building and construction industry projects.

Common uses for steel in the construction industry include:

  • Steel frames for buildings, sheds, garages, etc.
  • Roofing panels
  • Custom building components
  • Structural elements

With such a variety of ways in which steel can be processed, this metal has almost endless opportunities for the Australian construction industry. At Kanyana Engineering, our capabilities help realise those possibilities, with a range of technology-driven metal processes under the one roof.

At Kanyana Engineering, our cutting-edge machinery and computer-aided design software take steel fabrication to another level of precision. As the knowledge experts, the Kanyana team is equipped to fabricate custom components specifically for your project, taking into account loads, stresses, dimensions, and positioning.

With technology-driven capabilities, including CNC bending, folding, welding, laser cutting and more, metal fabrication can truly keep up with design innovation in the construction sector.

What Metal Fabrication Processes Are Used to Aid the Australian Construction Industry?

A variety of fabrication processes are used to manufacture materials for the construction industry including laser cutting, metal bending and metal folding.

Laser cutting is among our most common services for construction clients. Laser cutting is one of the best methods for cutting steel. Whether you require large sheets, panels, roofing, cleats, or other building materials for your construction project, we can laser cut steel to your specific requirements. This includes laser cut panels for decorative elements such as screens and fencing, like those we crafted for WA’s Kalbarri Skywalk.

At Kanyana Engineering, we utilise two industry-leading CNC laser cutters, the 2021 15kw Bystronic Bystar Fiber Laser and the Bystronic Byspeed 3015 Laser.

Metal bending and folding capabilities also extend to the construction industry. At Kanyana, our CNC folding and bending process will bend sheets of metal, based on the exact specifications and requirements of your construction project. One of the benefits of this technique is avoiding welds which can potentially be a weak spot in finished assemblies. It’s also a cost-effective and labour-effective process

The Kanyana Engineering workshops offers the use of three powerful machines, the Bystronic Xpert Pro (3100mm), the Bystronic Xact Smart (4100mm) and the Yawei Press Brake.

Specialist welding is another vital process used extensively for construction and structural works. Kanyana Engineering offers quality TIG and MIG welding services in-house, and our team has a reliable track record, including the knowledge investment and skill to tackle more challenging projects.

Other metal fabrication processes used in construction include NC guillotine cutting, CAD + CAM services, laser engraving and etching for barcoding or tracking of components. For a full overview of Kanyana Engineering services, download our full Capability Statement.

Our Projects: Kalbarri Skywalk, WA

To see a practical application of our metal fabrication services in the construction industry, look no further than the breathtaking Kalbarri Skywalk.

Bocol Construction Pty Ltd commissioned Kanyana Engineering to provide the laser cut steel panels to both skywalk structures, the structural cleats for the panelling and the inserted art panels in the cafeteria roof.

The expertly designed skywalk structures stretch 25 metres over the edge of the Murchison River Gorge, allowing an absolutely unparalleled view of the surrounding landscape. To complete this project, our team used Corten Weathering Steel to allow the structure to blend with the environment.

This iconic construction project now allows visitors to enjoy spectacular views of Kalbarri National Park and overlook the gorge below from 100 metres above.
