Red Earth Arts Precinct – Custom Stainless Steel Fabrication
Kanyana Engineering proudly contributed to the Red Earth Arts Precinct in Karratha, a standout civic and cultural development in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. This striking, architecturally designed facility required a fabrication partner capable of delivering both form and function—and we were proud to be part of that solution.
Our team worked closely with the project stakeholders to design and fabricate custom stainless steel guttering systems, tailored specifically for the unique geometry and environmental demands of the building. Fabricated from 316-grade stainless steel, the gutters were engineered to withstand the region’s harsh climate while seamlessly integrating with the bold architectural style of the precinct.

Project Spotlight: Supporting METRONET with Precision Fabrication
Kanyana Engineering is proud to contribute to METRONET—the largest investment in Perth’s public transport network in history. With over 72 kilometres of new rail lines and 22 new train and bus stations planned, METRONET is reshaping the future of infrastructure in Western Australia.
Partnering with leading contractor Knorr-Bremse Australia, our team was engaged to supply critical fabricated components for this major infrastructure program.
Loco Sandbox
We fabricated the loco sandbox, a vital mechanism designed to improve train braking systems. When activated, sand is dispensed onto the rails to increase traction—allowing trains to stop more safely and efficiently, particularly in low-grip conditions. Our role involved precision fabrication of these units to exact specifications, ensuring durability, reliability, and compliance with safety requirements.
ASU Frames
Kanyana also fabricated the ASU (Auxiliary Systems Unit) frames, which are used to house and protect electrical systems located beneath the train. These frames were designed to withstand harsh rail conditions while maintaining access for serviceability, making material quality and dimensional accuracy critical.
