They are designed for optimum performance and engineered with safety in mind- not only for Chamber users, but also for maintenance personnel. Featuring a digital gas monitoring system with full network connectivity, highly effective air scrubbing systems, full CCTV video surveillance and two way video communication, coupled with simple activation, RefugeME underground Refuge Chambers are an essential asset to every mine site.
We execute large scale fabrication using proven processes that deliver quality components, partial projects or complete assemblies. Our project management system creates transparency each step of the way controlling quality and traceability.

About the Project
RefugeMe refuge chambers are a key piece of safety equipment in the Australian mining sector. Our team feels extremely privileged to contribute such vital safety equipment to the mining community in WA and interstate.
For the RefugeMe chambers, our team completes the full fabrication process, while fit-out and installation is carried out by Murray Engineering in line with Australian mining requirements.
The Kanyana Engineering team is equipped to take on large-scale fabrication projects, including partial projects, metal components, or complete assemblies. We have a strong project management system that allows transparency through each step of your project to control quality and traceability.
What is a Refuge Chamber?
Refuge chambers provide a safe haven for miners in the event of an emergency underground. They feature a digital gas monitoring system with full network connectivity, highly effective air scrubbing systems, full CCTV video surveillance and two-way video communication.
Designed by Wattrix and constructed by Murray Engineering, RefugeMe chambers are a critical safety asset for every mine site. Their simple activation ensures they can be used easily in case of emergencies and offer peace of mind to staff and personnel.
The technical demands of manufacturing these structures are high: RefugeME Underground Mine Refuge Chambers are not only compliant with all mining industry regulations, but are also constructed in accordance with Murray Engineering’s ISO certifications (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001).

Our Role
Kanyana Engineering carries out the full fabrication process for RefugeMe refuge chambers, while fit-out and installation is completed by Murray Engineering in line with Australian mining requirements.

- Full steel welded construction
- Skid base configuration
- 2x tie down points at each end
- IT fork lifting slots
- 4x 3T rated lifting lugs
- Steel plate flooring
The Kanyana team executes large scale fabrication using a range of metal processes that do not compromise strength or integrity of materials. Our workshop is equipped with cutting-edge machinery capable of quick and effective fabrication, even across large production runs.
